Introduction
Genota is an e-commerce platform that connects customers to businesses in a one-stop shop, showcasing local Nigerian brands to everyday users.
Problem Statement
Customers struggle to access local businesses, causing them to miss out on new brands and better deals, while businesses face challenges in reaching a wider customer base
Project Goals
- Create visibility for businesses.
- Make shopping steamless for users.
- Bridge the gap in shopping across global markets.
Research
User Interview
I conducted user interviews and surveys to understand user constraints. I found that users struggled with browsing multiple brands when searching for specific items, making shopping tedious.

Key Findings:
- E-commerce website designs are often busy and result in confusing navigation.
- Small buttons make item selection difficult, increasing the risk of mistakes.
- Many e-commerce platforms lack an engaging browsing experience.
These insights directed my focus to user navigation and interaction.
Process
Lean UX
I used a lean UX approach to develop evidence-based hypotheses, analyzing project limitations and constraints. This approach helped me prioritize diverse options and seamless access to businesses for users.

Empathy Map
The empathy map clarified user needs and pain points, informing design decisions for an improved shopping experience.

User Persona
I created a user persona to highlight users goals and pain points, ensuring the design met their needs.

Site Map
The site map outlines the web app structure, simplifying navigation for a seamless experience.

Sketches
I sketched ideas for the page layout to ensure the business's content is displayed intuitively for new online shoppers and returning users.

Prototype
I created digital wireframes and prototypes to validate my design choices, then refined high-fidelity prototypes based on user feedback.

Reflection
This project was challenging due to the short timeline, but it was also a valuable learning experience—especially as it was my first time using Adobe XD. Leveraging components streamlined the process, and the site map was instrumental in planning the app’s structure. Overall, I’m proud of the final deliverable.
