Brief

The design team was assigned to design Dashr, a payment platform that processes payments and enables investing, budgeting, and taking loans.

Dashr Introduction

Problem

Users struggle with managing all their finances without the grunt of using several apps to accommodate their financial needs.

Goals

  1. Design a fintech application that enables payment, budgeting, investment, and saving.
  2. User-friendly and easy-to-navigate interface.
  3. Personalize user's financial experience.
  4. Encourage users to save.

Process

Research

We conducted research interviews and surveys to get to know our users and understand their needs. We also wanted to know their frustrations and what was important to them in a financial application.

Ideation

Our research indicated that users want a product that enables them to carry out their day-to-day financial transactions seamlessly. We brainstormed solutions to make it possible and developed five main features.

  1. Wire Transfer (send and receive payment)
  2. Invest and Loan
  3. Save
  4. Budget
  5. Utilities

Userflow

To ensure seamless navigation while using Dashr, we mapped out a user flow and structured the tasks to be easy and intuitive.

Sketches

We explore ideas by sketching the basic layout of the pages from our userflow.

Design System

We created a design system to maintain consistency on the team. It included colors, icons, layout, typography, components, and animation.

User Testing

We tested the prototype and gathered feedback to refine our design. For instance, a user struggled to generate a QR code for receiving money. Despite navigating to the Pay & Request page, the process took too long. To improve this, we added a request icon on the home page for quicker access to payment request options.

Reflection

This was my first time working on a large-scale project with other designers. I learned to navigate a central design system while ensuring consistency across designs.
